Densus Church - 2017

Presumably a pagan temple redesigned into an orthodox church, Densus is unique throughout all of Romania in terms of architecture, frescoes and surroundings. Some of the construction materials - bricks and columns - come from the Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa site, and the Romanic and Byzantine styles are intertwined. It is believed that this is the oldest church from the country - 700 years old, but the construction is much older when taking into consideration that it had been a temple dedicated to Mars 2000 years ago.
In the church's garden, there is also an old cemetery from where you can have a better perspective over the monument.
