Vila Vella - the Fortified Old Town



For me personally, this seaside citadel is, at least visually, synonymous to Heaven on Earth. It has everything that catches the eye - a small, yet impressive fortress on a cliff, shadowed by pine trees, surveying the Mediterranean Sea, with stunning beaches and turquoise crystal-clear waters...Ruins, medieval architecture with houses made of stone, still inhabited, surrounded from three sides by the Costa Brava waves...it was such a pity that we couldn't spend here more than a couple of hours (being an organized trip) and so, we miss it even now, after many years...
